Ferritic stainless steels, this group of steels in the 400 series contains 10.5% to > 30.0% chromium for
corrosion scaling at elevated temperatures and resistance. They are nonhardenable by heat treating.

The lower chromium ( 11% ) ferritics are primarily used for automotive exhaust.
Ferritics with intermediate chromium contents ( 15~17.0% ) are used for automotive trim, hot end automotive exhaust,
appliances, and cooking utensils. The high chromium ferritics ( 18~30.0% ) are
used in automive exhaust, trim, and appliance applications requiring high oxidation and corrosion resistance.
JIS SUS445J1, EN 1.4621, DIN X2CrNbCu21, atmospheric corrosion resistance is excellent,
the same as that of SUS316, major application: heat storage tanks.
JIS SUS445J2, EN 1.4622, DIN X2CrTiNbVCu22, atmospheric corrosion resistance of SUS445J1
stainless is improved. Major application: roof materials, ducts and architectural external panels.
